A Fresh Start

It's been a few years since I've blogged, so I think I'll start this new one in the hopes of sharing stuff I think is cool, chronicling my life (such as it is), and trying to figure out what to do w/ the unlit, tangled mess that is my mind.

To start things off, I finally read my copy of Wolverine: Origin by Jenkins, Kubert, and Isanove last night, and zomg, did that thing blow my mind!

If you're a Wolverine or X-Men fan, this is a must-have; I'm VERY picky about my graphic novels when it comes to artwork, and this one just had everything - gorgeous, lush coloring w/ high saturation and contrast, intricate detail work on both characters and backgrounds, beauty and violence intertwined seamlessly in practically every panel, an excellent story that could pause and focus without bogging down the action, and consistent, believable characterization.

I realize I'm about 10 years late on lauding the merits of the official Marvel history of Wolverine, but when this was actually published back in 2001, I had yet to discover the joys of graphic novels and still actually believed that AP classes and college were the end-all to a successful existence. So you'll have to forgive my tardiness on the subject, as I've only been collecting for a couple of years now. Even having already found out most of the book's reveals on Wolvie's backstory via the last film, Internet discussion, etc., I still found it an enthralling read.

So if you haven't already, go read this book so I can have someone w/ whom to discuss it in more detail, dammit!!! ;D =P
